Welcome to my Final Project!

You have stumbled across my website for PO394: Catastrophe and Memory with Professor Schmidt. I will be exploring the connections between wartime “propaganda” and the persisting memory of American opinion on the Japanese that can explain the American response to the interment of Japanese-Americans and the use of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In concluding my argument, I will demonstrate how strong this influence was in persistence using the controversy over the Smithsonian’s Enola Gay exhibit in the mid-1990’s. Thanks for stopping by!

About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Samantha Nelson and I’m a junior at Boston University. Screen Shot 2014-12-07 at 5.37.22 PMI’m a die-hard Red Sox fan, but I’m originally from the Washington, D.C. metro area. I’m pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations with a minor in Political Science. While my major focuses on foreign policy and security studies, I am a huge history buff especially when it comes to World War I and World War II. That’s where this project comes in!
